Velez-Malaga (13.6 miles km) is a typical Andalusian town with narrow streets, alleys and squares and a beautiful avenue called “Paseo de Andalusia” with centuries old trees, named “walking trees” ( because of their ability to let down their roots from the branches above ), and a big fountain. There are many interesting small shops and great restaurants in town. Sights not to be missed are the big, newly restored church and the Fortaleza, overlooking the city. Just outside of Velez-Malaga are large supermarkets and shopping malls which are easily reached by car.
